EDT&Partners Achieves the AWS Generative AI Software Competency, Strengthening Its AI and Software Capabilities
EDT&Partners has achieved the AWS Generative AI Software Competency, validating something beyond consulting: that we build and operate our own AI software, which AWS has reviewed against the same bar they set for product companies.

We have achieved the AWS Generative AI Software Competency. For us, this one is significant because it validates something beyond consulting: that we build and operate our own AI software, which AWS has reviewed against the same bar they set for product companies.
It is our third AWS Competency, after Education and Generative AI Services. Education confirmed we know the sector. Services confirmed we can design and run GenAI systems for clients. Software confirms we build the products.
What the Generative AI Software Competency means for our clients
AWS reviews software partners on the product, not the consulting. This follows a rigorous assessment: how the software is built, how it handles data, how it holds up under security review, and whether it can reliably serve many organizations at once.
The product at the center of this is Lecture, our open-source GenAI framework built on AWS. Already implemented at leading institutions in Europe and the Americas, Lecture enables the secure, flexible, and pedagogically aligned deployment of GenAI. It empowers institutions to enhance learning, streamline operations, and implement guardrails for responsible AI use without the complexity of building solutions from scratch.
"Customers ask us constantly: can you build this, or only advise on it? The answer is both. AWS has validated our software against the same standards it applies to any product company." — Benito Castellanos, Chief Information Officer at EDT&Partners
Knowledge management consulting and technology capabilities
Organizations trying to adopt generative AI run into the same problem. A pilot works, but nobody can explain what it would take to run it for 30,000 users with audit trails and a security review in place. This usually means hiring a consultancy and a separate software vendor, each pulling in a different direction.
We cover both sides: strategy, architecture, implementation, and the software that keeps running after the engagement ends. In practice, that means:
- Reusable architectures instead of a custom build each time
- Governance and security built into the product from the start
- Infrastructure that supports thousands of users without rearchitecting
- A shorter path from prototype to production
Instead of spending months stitching together separate vendors for consulting, architecture, and software, clients work with a single team that understands both technology and the education sector.
A software competency takes months of architecture reviews, security documentation, and deployment evidence to earn. Our engineering, cloud, AI, product, security, and delivery teams built that case, working alongside the education consultants who kept everything tied to learning outcomes.
Today, we work across cloud infrastructure, AI consulting, software engineering, digital sovereignty, and industry advisory. AWS remains a fundamental technology partner, and we are building AI capabilities and partnerships beyond the AWS ecosystem.
We bring the right mix of cloud, AI, and sector expertise to each engagement, regardless of the underlying technology.
What comes next
More AI products. Sovereign architectures for clients who need data to stay in-country. Enterprise-grade GenAI for organizations that require production governance before they can move forward. And continued expansion of Lecture into new regions and new use cases.
"Education remains the sector we know best. What has changed is how much technology capability we can put around it: from cloud foundations to sovereign architectures to AI software we build ourselves." — Pablo Langa, Founder & Managing Partner at EDT&Partners
