AI and student engagement: opportunities you will not find in digital textbooks

Updated: Sep 27, 2019

Frankfurter Buchmesse is the most important event to bring under the same roof every agent in the publishing value chain. Its relevance to industry professionals goes beyond the total number of rights deals signed; the exciting workshops and round tables, or the countless annual reviews held by long-term partners. Frankfurt is the event where professionals gauge the health of the industry while keeping an eye on the latest trends. For some, this is just business as usual. For others, it becomes an excellent opportunity to second-guess where publishing is headed and how it will eventually be disrupted.

For EDT Partners, Frankfurt is far from business as usual. This year, in particular, we hope for the annual event to become an exciting meeting point where ground-breaking companies in AI partner with leaders in the educational publishing space. We will be paying close attention both to the impact of AI on successfully forecasting and optimising sales and to recent developments in smart analyses of large amounts of text.

Although some publishers have already developed exciting products, the benefits of AI for education remain largely unknown to most — whether teachers, administrators, publishers or students. There are companies whose AI-powered educational products can (for example) customize learning content — or even drive a smart content-creation process — by deeply understanding learning needs and styles. EDT Partners is working closely with such industry leaders. In our experience, AI offers opportunities for student engagement that cannot be found in current digital textbooks.

It is therefore exciting to learn about FRANKFURT EDU, the new education area at Frankfurter Buchmesse. It is to be expected that this space will push learning boundaries to the next level. Opportunities will surely abound for players to network and jointly engage in ground-breaking developments. This is a platform to showcase innovative concepts, content and technologies applied to the education sector. Attendants will also benefit from workshops and micro-conferences delivered by leading experts in the field.

We are definitely looking forward to Frankfurter Buchmesse. If you are interested in learning more about our views and experience with EdTech in general or AI in particular, do not hesitate to reach out to us at
